Data and Technology Manager

ARISE Schools

Reports to: COO
Location: ARISE Academy (50%) and Mildred Osborne Charter School (50%)
Calendar: Year-round position

The Network Data and Technology Manager (DTM) is responsible for ensuring that students and staff across both schools have access to the data systems and technology necessary to make teaching and learning possible in the 21st century and that leaders have access to timely, meaningful, and actionable data from a variety of functional areas.

Instructional Data Systems
• Maintain all integrations and Single Sign-On (SSO) connections so that students and staff can access appropriate data systems at all times (e.g. Clever, Google Apps for Education, Powerschool, Schoology)
• Take the lead in the implementation of any new technology systems, including establishing integrations with our SIS, providing basic user training to staff, and troubleshooting any issues
• Perform annual set up and rollover of PowerSchool, including calendar, course schedules, student registration, and report cards
• Develop dashboards to allow leaders with quick access to academic, attendance, and discipline data

State Reporting
• Setup all state reporting extracts and ensure files are uploaded to the EdLink server on a regular basis
• Train school and network staff on eScholar student and staff ID systems
• Train school-based staff on required data entry into PowerSchool and other systems
• Attend regular LDOE data coordinator calls and update systems as state requirements change
• Run the EdLink error reports and assist school-based staff in resolving them

Technology Planning and Vision
• Develop and update ARISE Schools technology plan on annual basis with input from the COO and instructional leaders
• Develop the annual technology budget in conjunction with the COO
• Research potential options and make purchasing recommendations for new hardware and software
• Work with e-rate consultant to maximize e-rate funding, maintain appropriate records for compliance, and participate in vendor selection
• Develop systems to allow teachers to utilize and maintain technology in the classroom
• Develop policies to manage our 1:1 device program to minimize Chromebook damage and loss.

Professional Development
• Offer professional development to provide staff with assistance with a variety of systems (G-Suite services, Schoology, Powerschool, etc.)
• Seek out professional development opportunities for self and school-based staff

Network Administration and Maintenance
• Working with our external IT vendor, ensure 99% uptime for our wireless and wired networks across both sites.
• Ensure the proper operation of all servers, including the Domain Controller, Print Server, and virtual servers supporting the Building Automation System (BAS), caching servers for testing, and other integrations, as needed.
• Maintain Active Directory, by adding and removing staff members as needed.

Hardware and Software Support
• Understands software functionality and identify the right software solution for each situation.
• Manage asset inventory system of 100+ staff laptops and approximately 1,500 student Chromebooks.
• Provide support for mission-critical objectives (Personalized Learning, Distance Learning, State Testing, etc)
• Coordinate annual re-imaging / refreshing of staff computers and student Chromebook carts.
• Maintain technology work order system and responds to the ticket system, supervisor requests, and ongoing IT needs
• Provide support to school-based Technology Coordinators and ensures that support tickets are being resolved in a timely manner.

Organizational Support
• Manage domain(s) and ensure that website is functioning properly
• Respond to urgent data requests from school and network leaders, state and local officials, and other stakeholders
• Other duties as needed to ensure the smooth functioning of technology and data systems across the organization.

Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree
• At least 2 years of experience working with data and technology in an educational setting
• Experience managing technology and information systems in an educational setting, preferred
• Experience with Louisiana state reporting requirements preferred
