Your future duties and responsibilities:
How you'll make an impact
• ETL Design & Development: Design and develop ETL processes using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) to migrate legacy data into a modern solution. Implement error handling and SSIS best practices to ensure efficient and reliable data migrations. Execute complex data mapping processes and transformations, ensuring data integrity throughout the ETL lifecycle.
• Database Administration: Manage, maintain, and optimize the performance of Azure SQL Server databases, including index optimization, query tuning, and system monitoring. Ensure database security through the implementation of access controls, backups, and recovery strategies, using Azure SQL Database security best practices. Perform regular database maintenance tasks including backups, restores, consistency checks, and performance tuning. Monitor and troubleshoot database performance issues, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum efficiency.
• Post-Conversion Reporting & Validation: Develop and implement post-conversion validation processes to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and completeness after the migration. Create reports to monitor conversion success rates, identify data discrepancies, and lead remediation efforts when needed.
• ETL & Data Quality Optimization: Monitor ETL performance, diagnose issues, and implement performance tuning solutions to improve efficiency and speed. Provide recommendations for improving data quality processes, including profiling, cleansing, and validation. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure database and ETL processes meet stakeholder requirements.
• Azure & Project Management: Leverage Azure Boards for tracking and managing ETL development tasks, issues, and project timelines. Ensure ETL processes integrate seamlessly into the Azure Microsoft Database stack (Azure SQL Server, Azure Data Factory) and other Azure resources.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
What you'll bring
• 5+ years of experience as an ETL Engineer/DBA, with expertise in SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) for data conversion and migration.
• Strong experience in administering and optimizing Azure SQL Server databases, including performance tuning, backups, and security.
• In-depth knowledge of data mapping, data transformation, and data validation techniques.
• Proficiency in SQL scripting for complex queries (including cross-server queries to non-SQL Server databases), validation, and reporting.
• Experience with ETL error handling, SSIS logging, and performance monitoring.
• Familiarity with the Azure Microsoft Database stack, including Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Server, and related tools.
• Proficient in database administration tasks, including backups, recovery, indexing, partitioning, and security management.
• Experience with Azure Boards or similar project management and tracking tools.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills in a high-volume data environment.
Minimum Education Required: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
Desired qualifications/non-essential skills:
• Experience with Aperture Data Studio
• Experience with Oracle Database Management Systems
