About Houston
ExxonMobil's state-of-the-art campus north of Houston serves as home to its Upstream, Product Solutions and Low Carbon Solutions businesses and their associated service groups. The facility opened in 2014 and accommodates more than 10,000 employees and visitors.

What role you will play in our team
Exxon Mobil Corporation (“ExxonMobil”) is seeking to hire experienced attorneys for its global trading legal team in Houston, Texas. The attorneys will work closely with assigned clients, often on a daily basis, with oversight from more experienced attorneys where required.
What you will do
• Draft and negotiate commercial contracts and other legal documents related to physical commodity trading, specifically crude oil and oil products, both sales and purchase agreements
• Advise on contract status, legal risks, and the legal liabilities associated with commercial transactions
• Support compliance with regulatory and compliance requirements of commodity trading, including all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies and guidance
• Partner with trading teams to understand their strategic and commercial initiatives and advice and provide legal support to find appropriate solutions
• Partner with subject matter experts in the Law Department, for example antitrust, antiboycott, anticorruption, sanctions, labor and employment, litigation, trading regulatory and compliance
• Day-to-day activities will require consistent interface with other lawyers in the Law Department as well as Trading Regulatory & Compliance (regionally and globally)
About you
Skills and Qualifications
• J.D. from an accredited law school
• Strong college and law school record (top 1/3 of class preferred)
• Licensed to practice law in at least one state (Texas bar membership preferred)
• Strong compliance and global trading background
• Strong research and writing skills
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Minimum of three (3) years of relevant legal experience, at least partially with a major law firm, corporate legal department, or government agency
• High ethical standards and integrity
• Strong analytical skills and ability to exercise sound business judgment
• Ability and desire to work independently and as a member of an integrated team
• Able and willing to travel domestically and internationally in support of client transactions
Preferred Qualifications/ Experience
• Compliance and global trading experience in the energy industry
• Experience managing legal compliance issues (e.g., antitrust, anti-corruption and trade law matters)
• Demonstrated record of leadership and initiative
• Foreign language proficiency is a plus
