Position Summary
The Epic Patient Access Application Analyst, is an integral member of the Digital Project team. This position works closely with other members of the Digital Project team to support day-to-day hospital billing work and projects in the Epic HIS. The Epic Application Analyst will participate in configuration/build, system and business analysis, system configuration/build, support activities, and testing. This is a second-level application implementation position that requires both a technical and business understanding of UHN Digital’s supported applications, particularly those affecting billing and charging workflows.
Duties
• Provides technical support for IT application(s)
• Maintains strong knowledge of supported applications
• Provides day-to-day support of applications, including working with customers, our HIS vendor Epic, and other vendors in troubleshooting and identifying options to resolve issues;
• Performs application testing of new releases, upgrades, fixes and other product changes;
• Participation in roadmap planning for application upgrades in conjunction with business users and vendors;
• Provides customer service in the form of end-user meetings (clinical or business); attends and/or facilitates monthly established end-user meetings or ad hoc meetings;
• Periodic assignment to Digital projects, e.g. Epic Optimization Phase demand items, new application implementation or integration;
• Provides advice, guidance and training to end-users in the operation of supported application(s)
• Remains up-to-date with all aspects of applications in use
• Monitors literature for information related to the application
• Identifies training requirements/opportunities to improve application support
• Works with other Digital teams to ensure high service levels are maintained;
• Works closely with other Digital Application support teams to solve issues;
• Documents system problems and resolutions for future reference;
• Participates in weekly team meetings and huddles;
• Participates in an on-call roster for 24/7 support coverage
• Performs cross functional duties, as assigned or requested
• Adhering to Hospital Value Statements and Divisional/Departmental Policies and Procedures
• Maintains current knowledge of and practice/comply with University Health Network mission and value statements, Occupational Health & Safety Act, Regulated Health Discipline Act, and other relevant regulations, legislation and guidelines.
• Maintains strict patient confidentiality
• Accesses patients’ electronic records only as required to perform work duties and shred all waste paper containing patient names.
• Performs cross-functional and/or other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned or requested.
• Works in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations, reporting hazards, deficiencies and contraventions of the Act in a timely manner.
Qualifications
• At a minimum, a bachelor's degree in computer science, math, health informatics, or a recognized equivalent is required.
• Certification in one or more Epic applications is preferred: Cadence, Prelude, Grand Central, HIM, myChart. Other Epic certifications are welcome.
