Summary

This position oversees, manages, and leads day-to-day operations of a biomedical research lab to ensure that current and long-term research goals are met. Duties include biomedical and animal regulatory compliance, managing local and national pharmacy licenses, supporting research projects, and general lab operations.

Job Duties
• Oversees regulatory concerns & maintains compliance; works with the EHSO to write and update the biosafety protocol.
• Maintains up-to-date inventories of chemicals and biological materials. Ensures lab compliance with biosafety rules and regulations.
• Writes and updates IACUC protocols.
• Works with staff to ensure research compliance with IACUC rules and regulations.
• Maintains records to document compliance activities.
• Manages drug licenses; candidate will apply for pharmacy and DEA licenses on behalf of the lab.
• Ensures compliance with state and federal regulations of dangerous drugs and controlled substances.
• Maintains detailed records and correctly disposes of waste and expired material through a Reverse Distributor.
• Assists with hiring; works with the PI and department business manager to write and post lab positions based on research.
• Reviews candidates with PI.
• Guides new staff through the onboarding process including obtaining badges, background checks, biosafety training, building access, and (if applicable) animal training.
• Supports research projects.
• Attends research meetings, keeps PI apprised of team project progress, and provides writing/editing/submission support for manuscripts and grant applications.
• Assists with data analysis and graphing. Reviews literature for development/improvement of lab methods or summarize area content.
• Organizes strategies for achieving grant aims and works with staff to carry out plans.
• Assists with administrative tasks: Orders supplies/reagents/mice, arranges payments for services or contractors, schedules meetings, submits records for reimbursements, and prepares budgets.

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications
• Master's degree in a related field.
