Position Details:
Position: Data Engineer
Rate: up to $70.00/ hr
Location: Onsite 3x a week in Orlando/ Lake Mary, FL
Project Description:
PowerBI Development
o In addition to just creating reports, there is a big focus on administration, troubleshooting, and support
o Big plus if folks are comfortable fixing/enhancing reports that may be failing, having performance issues, etc.
o Will also be doing some light data modelling with star and snowflake schema
o This role still has some business facing elements so folks that can translate tech into non-tech would be appreciated
o Experience with additional areas such as descriptive statistics, data transformation, outliers, aggregation, space management in snowflake, and direct querying of snowflake to pull things into Power BI
o All in all, in addition to new report requests they have a lot of requests to increase performance on existing slower dashboards, and recreate/repurpose older data models/reports
Data Modeling
• Need to understand how data is being sourced, look at the architecture and find ways to improve and optimize data flow
• How do we source more data overall, create pipelines, create tables, and do other design work
• Billions and trillions of data points so latency and performance is a constant issue that needs fixing
• Constantly looking at data structures and models to make sure we implement the right kind of architecture
Day to Day Responsibilities/typical day look like:
PowerBI Development
Candidates with a lot of PowerBI Admin experience, troubleshooting in PowerBI coupled with data modeling. Can be front facing and communicate with the stakeholders. SQL skills, descriptive statistic experience. Dealing with outliers, space management with Snowflake. Direct querying from Snowflake into PowerBI. Understand how to repurpose/refactor a report. STAR Modeling & Snowflake Schema for data modeling. Understanding aggregation and how to deal with issues that arise from slow performing dashboards and being able to recreate or repurpose data models that have already been implemented. Air Flow, Python, PiSpark, Java.
Data Modeling
Candidates who can understand the current data and how it is being sourced into the application. Understand the architecture, optimize it, and help source more data. Create a better data pipeline, create the tables, handle the design. One of the challenges is performance on the dashboard, bringing in billions/trillions of data and with the large volume- need someone strong who can understand the structures, models, and implement the correct architecture.
