The Supply Chain and Analytics (SCMA) department in the School
of Business at Vi rginia Commonwealth University is recruiting a
pool of applicants on an ongoing basis for adjunct teaching
positions.The SCMA department will consult the adjunct applicant
pool and contact qualified applicants for interviews on an
as-needed basis.
The SCMA department has an immediate need for an adjunct instructor
to teach one section of SCMA 632 (Statistical Analysis &
Modeling) in Fall 2024, a graduate-level statistics course. The

. This course is currently scheduled as a hybrid delivery format,
consisting of in-person classes + synchronous streaming of the
in-person classes, scheduled for Thursdays at 7:00pm to 9:40pm,
from August 20 through December 9 2024.
Applicants to this position may also be considered for other
statistics-related courses (at both undergraduate and graduate
levels) on a rolling basis as needs arise. As part of their
application, applicants should include the following information:
(1) an indication of their ability and willingness to teach
in-person courses at VCU’s School of Business (Snead Hall, Richmond
VA), (2) whether they are able to teach the specific section of
SCMA 632 referenced above, and (3) whether they would like to be
considered for other statistics-related courses offered by the SCMA
department (e.g., SCMA 301, 302, 303, 430, 524, or 643), should the
needs arise in future semesters.
Position Responsibilities
• Meet all designated course instruction guidelines and contact
hour requirements.
• Respond to student inquiries, grade assignments, and provide
feedback in a timely manner.
• Submit midterm and final grades prior to university
deadlines.
• Work with other departmental faculty to ensure course alignment
with past offerings.
• Teaching methods will vary by course and instructor, but
typically include some combination of lectures, hands-on
demonstrations, data analysis problems, case studies, exams, and/or
student presentations.
Minimum Qualifications
• Master’s degree in business, statistics, operations research,
or another statistics-related field from an accredited
institution.
• Knowledge of one or more programs and programming languages
used for statistical analysis (e.g., Stata, R, Python, etc.).
• Ability to utilize online LMS systems for content
delivery.
• Ability to teach in-person at VCU’s School of Business (Snead
Hall) for the immediate need (SCMA 632, Fall 2024). Applicants that
can only teach remotely may be considered (a) for other courses
(if/when such needs arise), and (b) to teach SCMA 632 in the Fall
if a suitable instructor cannot be found to teach the course
in-person.
• Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse
faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a
faculty member at VCU.
Preferred Qualifications
• Terminal degree (PhD, DBA, etc.) in business, statistics,
operations research, or another statistics-related field from an
accredited institution .
• Prior experience in teaching graduate level courses; experience
with hybrid formats (in-person + synchronous streaming online)
strongly preferred.
• Work experience in statistical analysis.
