Job Description:
Under the supervision of the Chair of the Professional Music Department, the Support Staff provides administrative and other support services to advance the work of the Department. The Support Staff serves as an administrative assistant to the Chair and Department Coordinator, assists in the degree audit process, approval of student course maps, maintains records/files, assists students, and manages schedules.
Responsibilities:
• Provide administrative support for the Professional Music Department including; maintaining student files, approving course maps, administering degree audits, managing waiver lists, calendar management, etc.
• Demonstrate strong communication skills to represent the Professional Music Department off-campus; communicate departmental information including the preparation of oral and written correspondences (hard copy and/or electronic).
• Demonstrate strong technology skills to prepare, manage, and share documents; conduct research; create and manage databases; and navigate the College information management system (Colleague) for access to student records, etc.
• Other duties as assigned.
Academic Resource:
• Information advising: Responsible for answering general questions from students and fielding outside inquiries concerning the Professional Music Department.
Qualifications:
• Baccalaureate degree required
• Demonstration of a minimum of 2 years of related experience
• Strong communication skills (orally and in writing) to engage diverse groups in a variety of settings and continuously represent the Professional Music Department at the highest level
• Effective and efficient organizational skills and the ability to work independently
• Excellent command of technology to support office work (e.g., Mac platform, Microsoft Office-including Excel, Google Docs, Google Drive, and Gmail; Scansnap; databases; research; budget preparation)
• Knowledge and/or appreciation of music and/or the arts is preferred.
