GENERAL DUTIES

Performs highly-skilled laboratory functions and other technical duties in support of coursework.
• Sets up, maintains, and organizes student laboratories
• Assists students with setting up experiments and other learning exercises, and with the use of equipment and materials
• Maintains appropriate safety and hygiene standards
• Maintains required documentation related to laboratory activities
• Manages equipment and materials inventories.

The Department of Natural Science seeks a College Laboratory Technician (Chemistry). Reporting to the Department Chair, the College Laboratory Technician will, in addition to the General Duties, prepare chemicals and reagents for chemistry laboratories,assemble laboratory demonstrations, label all materials and solutions, replenish spent materials, properly dispose of non-hazardous waste, hazardous waste, and chemical waste streams, and maintain all materials, scientific equipment, and appliances.The candidate will also be responsible for purchasing of supplies and materials for the classes, basic maintenance of equipment and laboratories, and reinforcing laboratory skills taught by faculty.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma with a minimum of four years' related experience. Additional education may be used to meet the experience requirement: an Associate degree may be substituted for two years experience, and a Bachelor's degree may be substituted for four years experience.

COMPENSATION

$47,509 - $57,933

Salary commensurate with education and experience.
