Senior Java API Developer

Acara Solutions client is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Java API Developer to join their dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining RESTful APIs using Java and Spring Boot. You will leverage your expertise in API development, deployment, and support, and apply your testing automation skills to ensure the reliability and performance of our APIs.

Location: 100% Remote
Pay Rate: $74 an hour
Duration: Up to 6 months

Key Responsibilities:
• API Development: Design, implement, and maintain RESTful APIs using Java and Spring Boot. Ensure APIs are efficient, scalable, and aligned with best practices.
• API Deployment & Support: Manage the deployment of APIs, troubleshoot and resolve issues, and provide ongoing support to ensure high availability and performance.
• Testing & Automation: Develop and execute automated tests using tools such as JUnit, ReadyAPI, and Postman to validate API functionality, performance, and security.
• Code Quality: Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code. Perform code reviews and adhere to coding standards and best practices.
• Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams including product managers, UX/UI designers, and other developers to deliver high-quality software solutions.
• Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends. Propose and implement improvements to enhance API functionality and development processes.

Required Skills / Qualifications:
• Experience: 4-6 years of experience in Java and Spring Boot API development, with a strong focus on RESTful API design and implementation.
• Testing Skills: Proficiency in testing automation tools such as JUnit, ReadyAPI, and/or Postman. Demonstrated experience in creating and maintaining automated test suites.
• Technical Skills:
• Strong understanding of RESTful API principles and best practices.
• Experience with API deployment, monitoring, and support.
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues.
• Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
• Experience with microservices architecture and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Knowledge of additional programming languages or frameworks.
