Instructional Math Paraeducator

Job Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Math Specialist, will supervise and work with students individually and in groups, provide instruction, prepare materials, be responsible for implementing and monitoring ongoing behavior management systems, perform assigned tasks, and perform other duties as directed by administration.

Qualifications:
• Must have a high school diploma and have completed at least two years of full time study at an institution of higher education or obtained an Associates degree or successfully completed the Para Pro Assessment. Teaching certification preferred.
• Ability to work well with others in a cooperative manner
• Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work with a minimum amount of supervision
• Evidence of initiative, independence, adaptability and efficiency
• General understanding of child growth and development and child behavior characteristics
• Good language skills including English usage, punctuation, spelling and grammar
• General understanding of the purposes and goals of public education
• Specific subject area content as may be required by the particular job assignment
• Ability to work effectively with diverse groups, including students and adults
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate
Reports To:
Math Specialist and building administration.

Evaluation:
The immediate supervisor develops specific duties for each paraeducator updating them according to needs. Evaluation of job performance is a continuous process designed to improve the quality of work performed. A formal evaluation is completed by the building administrator at the completion of the probationary period, on an annual basis, and more frequently as determined by the supervisor.

Terms of Employment:
Starts on August 26, 2024. Hours are Monday - Friday 7:15-3:00. Hourly rate of $21.97 in accordance with the negotiated agreement between the Berlin Board of Education and Local 1303-276 of Council 4 AFSCME, AFL-CIO.
