We've experienced a rapid growth phase during the onset of the pandemic, and we are continuing to grow as more companies choose to remain remote or hybrid. With that increased scale, we are looking for an exceptionally talented and experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our tiny but mighty team, where your contributions will have a real impact. Our ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about building scalable web applications. Being a remote-first company, we value trust, communication, initiative and autonomy. And while we are most excited to bring on a full stack engineer, we are open to hiring engineers who have a strong focus on front-end, data architecture, and/or DevOps.
In this full-time remote role, you will have the opportunity to be an integral part in building the future of digital greeting cards. You’ll build and iterate on new and existing features used by millions of people every month.
What You'll Do
• Maintain our product's core features, the web browser application and its mobile-responsive version, and APIs used
• Work with Product, Sales, Customer Support, and Design on implementing new features for our card creators, signers, and recipients
• Design, code, test, and support those new features
• Participate in code reviews and team meetings
• Review PRs
• Automate processes
• Help our Support team triage bugs
Requirements
What You'll Bring:
• 5+ years of professional software development experience building and scaling web applications
• 4+ years of experience building and scaling large web APIs
• Proficiency in Ruby on Rails
• Strong ability to write clean, high-quality, high-performance, well-tested, maintainable code
• Grit, motivation, and a strong sense of ownership coupled with collaboration
• Solid communication skills, both oral and written
• Knowledge of security as it relates to web applications
Strong Knowledge In The Following
• MySQL
• Frameworkless JavaScript (we use JQuery)
• HTML/CSS and responsive design
• Advanced Git
