Job Description:
• Level 3 Systems Administrator.
• This key position will be integral in providing data warehouse services to support all areas of our mission including strategy, operations, research, patient access, and overall optimization.
• This position is responsible for the maintenance and growth of our data warehouse technical stack.
• Its work includes consulting with developers for smooth deployments, satisfying ETL deployments with established governed practices, working with other teams in the department to provision access appropriately to the warehouse, and being a general technical resource available to automate key functions.
• The position plays a critical role in ensuring data is ingested and curated into our data warehouse on schedule and that developers and users are made aware of the statuses of their data flows and engaged to address issues.
• In addition to these duties, the position is required to perform any other tasks assigned to support the department’s function.
• A data warehouse operations analyst is responsible for creating databases, user provisioning, and supporting data engineers to meet company’s data and analytics needs.
• Provisions users in Microsoft SQL Server.
• Creates new databases in SQL Server.
• Creates new schemas in SQL Server with appropriate attention to data security.
• Works with ETL developers to host SSIS packages on Integration Services Server.
• Ensures all EIA best practices for ETL packages are adhered to within developer packages.
• Troubleshoots ETL errors with developers.
• Performs day to day monitoring of backups/CPU/storage growth.
• Manages replication tool (DMS) to create/sync and maintain new assets.
• Uses and supports all company service tools, including ServiceNow, PagerDuty, portfolio task management, and technical tools SSIS, SSMS, and GitHub.
• Maintains thorough and detailed documentation around deployment practices, user provisioning, and database management.
• Is capable of creating and maintaining ETL packages using Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services.
• Participates in project planning, including scoping backlogs and determining estimates.
• Assumes on-call duties to support the operation of reporting and analytics systems.
• Maintains appropriate business domain knowledge in healthcare, education, research, finance, or business administration.
• 50% (Developer Support): Works with developers to deploy Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) jobs in our enterprise data warehouse from Development to Test and from Test to Production environments.Acts as an MS Integration Services administrator, ensuring ETL standards and guidelines are enforced. Troubleshoots issues with developers during deployment. Administer data replication tools e.g., AWS Data Migration Service (DMS) to create/sync and maintain new assets in the enterprise data warehouse.
• 25% (Systems Administration): Responsible for Database administration duties, day to day monitoring of backups/CPU/storage growth. Capacity planning and forecasting the future growth in AWS and on-premises systems. Automates administration tasks. Coordinates with company’s Secure Enterprise Cloud (SEC) team to incorporate services from Amazon Web Services into the suite of tools available for SEC hosted environments at company.
• 25% (User Support and Team Collaboration): User provisioning and maintaining the ServiceNow queue of access requests. Creates new databases and implements security in accordance with data compliance standards. Designs solutions which are scalable. Implements frameworks which are flexible to adapt for future changes.
Qualifications:
• Minimum 3 years as a Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator.
• At least 3 years writing T-SQL. Experienced in writing complex SQL queries and stored procedures. Understanding of query performance tuning.
• The ideal candidate knows AWS networking and server technologies but is also an Integration Services Administrator (ETL Administrator) and Database Administrator. Microsoft SQL Server or AWS certifications would be welcome, but not required.
• Minimum of 3 years using at least one ETL tool such as Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), AWS Glue, Microsoft Azure Data Factory,
