Our client is a leading global aerospace and defense technology company, is seeking a Principal Engineer Software - Java Development to join their dynamic team in San Diego, CA. In this pivotal role, you will work on cutting-edge defense and space projects, developing software solutions that are critical to national security and technological advancement.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and manage the design, development, and maintenance of complex Java-based software systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including systems engineers, testers, and other software developers to define system requirements and create scalable solutions.
• Develop high-performance and secure Java applications for mission-critical projects.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring adherence to best practices and coding standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve software defects, ensuring the delivery of high-quality products on schedule.
• Work within an Agile framework, contributing to sprint planning, code reviews, and continuous integration and delivery pipelines.
• Stay current with emerging technologies, driving innovation and efficiencies in software development processes.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field with 5+ years of software development experience; OR a Master's degree with 3+ years of experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in Java development, with hands-on experience in full software development lifecycle.
• Experience with Java frameworks such as Spring or Hibernate.
• Strong understanding of software architecture and design patterns.
• Experience working in Agile or DevOps environments.
• U.S. Citizenship required with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.
