InsightRX

About InsightRX

InsightRX is a venture-backed healthcare technology company based in San Francisco focused on individualizing treatment at the point of care. We envision a world in which all medications work as intended, maximally effective and safe. Founded in 2015, our core precision dosing product combines patient-specific data with pharmacology models and machine learning to help clinicians individualize dosing for complex medications where a ‘one-size-fits-all’ treatment approach leads to suboptimal clinical outcomes. Our team is fast-paced, results-oriented, and mission driven.

About the Job

We are looking for a Data Scientist to contribute to our data products and predictive models, from data collection and model development to implementation in our point-of-care clinical decision support software to lifecycle monitoring and maintenance. Your role will be to improve patient care and healthcare provider operations by identifying and implementing the right tool for the job, from software optimization to pharmacokinetic modeling to machine learning. You will join a team of five data scientists and machine learning engineers, reporting to the Director of Data Science.

Responsibilities

As a Data Scientist, your day-to-day activities will include:
• Driving or collaborating on pioneering research to enhance precision dosing science
• Developing and validating new data products, from pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic models to machine learning models to automated reports
• Building scalable, maintainable data pipelines to facilitate analysis, modeling and delivery of data products
• Working cross-functionally across data science, product design, customer success and sales to understand unmet clinical needs and business needs.
• Contributing well-tested and scalable code to our production code bases (we use R in production!)

Qualifications

Candidates with strong competency in one or two of the areas listed below and an enthusiasm for learning the rest will be well-suited for this position. We are committed to supporting your professional development and will provide the necessary resources and training to help you grow in all required skills.

Required:
• Master’s degree or higher in a quantitative life sciences field (bioengineering, biostatistics, etc). Candidates with a combination of relevant education and experience demonstrating proficiency in both mathematics/programming and life sciences will also be considered.
• R Software: Our precision dosing platform is powered by R! You are proficient in writing production-ready and well-tested R code.
• Great communication/collaboration skills: You can describe technical requirements to project managers and others in the company and provide your expertise to help prioritize tasks. You can stay in sync with data scientists and engineers as you collaborate to build our data products.
• Scientific mindset: You can formulate hypotheses and design experiments to test them, you consider statistical significance, effect size and possible biases when interpreting data.
• Hacker mindset: You are curious, creative and resourceful in your problem-solving.

We also value:
• Engineering best practices: Experience building, shipping and maintaining software in production have familiarized you with version control, continuous integration, docker containers, unit and functional testing, and cloud computing frameworks (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, etc). In addition to R, our team also uses Python, C++, javascript.
• Data warehousing: Experience writing performant, readable SQL queries, experience with relational databases (we use postgres).
• Domain expertise: Experience in pharmacometrics, electronic health records, biomedicine, pharma industry, LLMs, supervised machine learning, pharmacokinetics.
• Scientific publications: a strong track record of contributing to the scientific literature.

What We Offer:
• Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and Long-Term Disability
• 401(k)
• Unlimited PTO
