Farm Journal is seeking an exceptional, results-oriented Executive Vice President to lead the strategy and execution for our Farm Journal Brands Center of Excellence, including our magazines, Websites, events, and studios (radio/tv/podcasting), overseeing audience development, editorial and product management.

Our 23 storied brands are the most watched, listened to, read, attended, and searched for in the agriculture and food industry. With a legacy of more than 147 years, this innovative and intrapreneurial leader will be tasked with brand building to continue to grow their influence for the next generation and beyond.

Leading the audience development, editorial and digital media teams, the EVP, Farm Journal Brands is the primary architect of the audience journey across Farm Journal’s many properties through a wide and growing range of established and evolving platforms. They will apply a rigorous understanding of audience behaviors to launch new brands and create intent-rich first party data from our existing brands.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience managing a large team (50+), developing content across multiple brands, and having P&L responsibility. This visionary leader knows how to expand media brands with both traditional and non-traditional channels, including events, YouTube, podcasts and social media. Responsible for new product development, the EVP of Farm Journal Brands will use KPI’s to measure the success of our content production, product development, and controlled and paid subscription efforts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

These duties include, but are not limited to, the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Diversify our revenues and deepen the engagement of Farm Journal’s audiences.
• In collaboration with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team, sets overall organizational objectives and key results and is accountable to delivering progress to them.
• As leader of the Product team, shapes and manages execution of the digital roadmap for the organization, ensuring the successful design, testing, delivery, optimization and quality of a suite of best-in-class consumer experiences across the web, mobile devices, connected cars, voice-activated devices and other platforms and surfaces.
• Serves as the primary steward for the Farm Journal portfolio of brands. Ensures clear and consistent identity and messaging across the brands.
• Effectively manages and organizes the division’s day-to-day operations and budgets, processes and procedures.
• Actively participates in the continued organizational objective to create a healthy, vibrant culture of diversity, inclusion, personal and professional accountability.
• Nurtures and mentors team members and provides opportunities for meaningful work, enhancing their skills and developing their careers.
• Fosters an environment of cohesiveness, caring, and collaboration with colleagues across all Farm Journal departments, living out our tagline: “No One Grows Alone.”

Skills/Professional Experience

These qualifications include, but are not limited to, the following:
• A deep appreciation and passion for serving farmers, ranchers, growers, agribusinesses, and food companies.
• Five years of P&L management of $20M+ in revenue.
• Experience with news, journalism or content-based businesses.
• Team player with proven ability to collaborate with colleagues across functional areas.
• Fluency and foresight with disruptive technologies, from new modes of audio distribution to artificial intelligence.
• A strong strategic thinker who champions the use of quantitative and qualitative data to measure and improve the performance of various audience, product and marketing initiatives and activities.
• A demonstrated willingness to experiment, test and learn in order to grow new audiences and attract members and donors with initiatives, campaigns and tools.
• Proven ability to build a cohesive, high-performing staff and teams and to develop the skills and nurture the growth of staff members.
• Commitment and comfort in helping to continue to build a diverse and inclusive organization.
• Strong people-oriented manager who understands the work required to be a great departmental and institutional leader.
• High energy, entrepreneurial drive, creativity, flexibility, and results-orientation.
