Overview
JOB SUMMARY: Position will serve as the primary developer of digital curriculum materials for synchronous and asynchronous instruction and support of technology in the classroom and online for Northwest AHEC at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. Position is responsible for evaluating curriculum content and managing instructionally sound delivery mechanisms for multiple options of delivery. Prepares and packages learning objectives and solutions for delivery to learners. Works with subject matter experts and program coordinators to identify potential applications for new and emerging instructional technologies that support an innovative educational infrastructure.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Masters degree and five years experience analyzing business and performance needs and/or designing and developing learning and performance solutions or equivalent combination of education and experience REPORTS TO: Assistant Director, AHEC Quality & Informatics
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION: Valid drivers license
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Assist faculty, partners and program coordinators in developing instructional material for the respective curricula. 2. Advise stakeholders where appropriate on preparation and organization of content for blended learning delivery. 3. Assess educational content and determine most appropriate methods of delivery and prepare material for chosen delivery method(s). 4. Design, plan and advise on content development technologies, content delivery technologies and content hosting technologies of curricula material. 5. Develop, communicate and implement department standards to create content for multiple platforms, accessible from numerous devices (computer, laptop, iPad, smartphone, etc.) 6. Applies evidence-based principles of instructional design and development to create the structure and establish standards for courses? content delivery items. Assess, organize and compile content provided by faculty and transform into online courses or other blended learning solutions, including the educational applications of social media. Distribute tasks as appropriate to junior instructional design personnel. 7. Analyze current curriculum delivery tools and create ideas for functional enhancements to better facilitate web-based/rich media content delivery. Communicate ideas to management and systems developers. 8. Create comprehensive testing plans for materials developed. 9. Using Performance Support Architecture and the PDSA process improvement model, analyze, design, develop and/or enhance faculty/staff training as needed or upon request. 10. Support the online learning management system(s). 11. Researches best practices and identifies potential applications for new and emerging instructional technologies to ensure educational integrity. 12. Participates on committees that promote instructional technology and/or academic innovation. 13. Seek out and deploy useful and efficient methods of increasing learner engagement and communication. 14. Performs other duties as assigned by management.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS: Strong written, oral and presentation communication skills Ability to analyze data and problem solve Good organization skills and ability to pay attention to details Proficient with office productivity software (Microsoft Office) and collaboration software (Microsoft SharePoint) Project management skills Ability to utilize multimedia technology and authoring tools Ability to work independently and provide supervision to junior level technologists Customer service oriented Adept at rich media technologies Knowledge of the current literature, trends and developments in the field of instructional technology and the appropriate instructional uses in various subject areas Considerable knowledge of computer technology, multiple hardware platforms, network architecture and cabling techniques Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of programs and make recommendations for improvements Ability to evaluate the performance of hardware and software and make recommendations for improvement Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments
